We have been running our Discover Digital courses for students and teachers for three years.
|
|
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
This is an introduction to the principles of digital video production and editing techniques. Students will design, film and edit a short movie. It will provide access to video cameras and computers with all the appropriate software. This will give the students an opportunity to work in small groups and have maximum use of the equipment.

| There are three courses available: |

- Two day movie course
- Two day animation course
- Four day combined movie and animation course
|
|
|
Each course is suitable for absolute beginnners and more advanced students.

Movie Course:
Day 1:
Morning: Students will be familiarised with iMovie. They are then introduced to the camera equipment and their group by doing a piece to camera.
Afternoon: Film-making process, planning and story boarding.
Day 2:
Full-day of filming and editing movies.
Advanced students are given the option of joining the Garageband workshop to create a sound track. |

Animation Course:
Day 1/3:
Morning: Students will be familiarised with the software. Appreciating what goes on to make an animation.
Afternoon: Film-making process, planning, story boarding and model making.
Day 2/4:
Full-day of filming and editing movies.
Advanced students are given the option of joining the Garageband workshop to create a sound track.
For the four day course there is a viewing of work at the NFT, parents and friends are welcome! |

Day Course:
Teachers will be introduced to the principles of digital video production and editing techniques.
Most of the day is spent in a workshop where teachers confront computers, camera and their fears, and put together a short movie.
Morning: Workshop on using the equipment and software.
Afternoon: Filming and editing a short movie followed by discussions on how it might be used in schools and offer new ways to satisfy the needs of the National Curriculum.
